Holly Hill | Holly Hill is bordered by the Halifax River on the east side, Ormond Beach on the north side, and Daytona Beach to the south. According to the Halifax Historical Society, Holly Hill was given its name by William Fleming, a farmer whose land had many holly trees on the west bank of the Halifax River. Also located in the central part of the area are parts of Daytona Beach and South Daytona. Each of these communities has giant oaks and other foliage traditional to Southern river landscapes. The city's area of four square miles occupies a ridge of hammock land rising from four feet above sea level at the Halifax River bank to about ten feet above sea level at the top. The region has been landscaped by Mother Nature with holly bushes, magnolias, palms and majestic oak trees.
The city's main advantages make it a highly desirable location, from an industrial as well as residential point of view. Well paved and improved streets, a fully automated water treatment plant in a new expandable public works complex, highly motivated police and fire protection forces, and a record of growth and progress with careful planning and strict zoning... it all adds up to success, both present and future. And all the glorious weather? Well, that's icing on the cake!
